A case of mycetoma with serological diagnosis of Allescheria boydii

Abstract

A case of mycetoma is described, in which a histological diagnosis of Allescheria boydii infection was confirmed by serological techniques. Antigens from a fungus (Microascus cinereus) apparently isolated from the lesion did not react to the patient's serum and this fungus was therefore considered to be a contaminant.

Zasamenfassung

Ein Fall von Myzetom wird beschreiben, in dem die histologische Diagnose einer Allescheria boydii—Infektion durch serologische Verfahren bestätigt wurde. Antigen eines anderen Pilzes (Microascus cinereus), der scheinbar aus der Läsion isoliert worden ist, reagierte nicht mit dem Patientenserum, und dieser wurde deshalb als Verunreiniger angesehen.
