Keratinophilic fungi from Queensland—II. Isolations from feathers of wild birds

Abstract

Feather samples from 285 birds, representing 113 species, were examined for keratinophilic fungi. Of these, 116 (40·7%) gave positive isolations. “Chrysosporium” spp. (21·8%), Arthroderma curreyi (14·0%), Arthroderma tuberculatum (8·5%) and Nannizzia cajetani (3·9%) predominated.

Zusammenfassung

Federproben von 285 Vögeln (113 Arten) wurden auf keratinophile Pilze untersucht. Dabei gelangen 116 Kulturen (40·7%); Arthroderma curreyi (14·0%), Arthroderma tuberculatum oder sein Konidialstadium (8·5%) und Nannizzia cajetani oder ihr Konidialstadium (3·9%) kamen hauptsächlich vor.
