Scytalidium hyalinum infection diagnosed in Spain

Abstract

Scytalidium hyalinum infection of the soles and toe webs was diagnosed in a 40-year-old male immigrant to Spain from Equatorial Guinea. Short courses of therapy with oral ketoconazole (Nizoral) 400 mg day-1 and topical clotrimazole (Canesten) failed to improve the condition.

RESUMEN

Se diagnosticó una infección por Scytalidium hyalinum localizada en espacios interdigitales y plantas de ambos pies, en un varón de 40 años de edad, oriundo de Guinea Ecuatorial, y residente en España. La infección no pudo ser controlada a pesar de que se instituyó tratamiento con 400 mg/dia de Ketoconazol (Nizoral) y Clotrimazol tópico (Canestén).
