Morphological variation in submerged Fucus vesiculosus (L) was studied along the salinity gradient in the River Keret estuary, White Sea, Russia. Salinity decreased from 24 to 2 psu from the White Sea up the River Keret estuary within a distance of a few hundred metres. Almost all measured vegetative characteristics of F. vesiculosus showed a decreasing trend as salinity decreased. According to earlier studies, changes in the morphological characteristics of River Keret F. vesiculosus are parallel to changes in Baltic Sea F. vesiculosus along a decreasing salinity gradient.
