The species of haplopoma (polyzoa)

Pages 9-18 | Received 15 Jun 1962, Published online: 21 Dec 2011

Abstract

The genus Haplopoma Levinsen contains four known species: H. impressum (Audouin), type species; H. planum sp. nov.; H. graniferum (Johnston); H. bimucronatum (Moll). These species, which have been extensively confused in the past and often collectively called impressum, show distinctive characters of morphology, ecology and distribution. All are described and illustrated, and a key to species is provided.
