Abstract
On 29 November 1961 Marinogammarus pirloti Sexton and Spooner was found on the small island Hillesöy off Leirvik in the outer part of the Hardangerfjord. The specimens were caught under stones in the littoral in a little bay exposed to northwest. A trickle of freshwater from land lowered the salinity at the locality to 0.9 % and the temperature was 4.4°C. As the animals live near the L.W.-line they must be exposed to marine conditions part of the time. At the time the salinity and temperature off the littoral were 30 % and 8.8°C respectively.
