On the occurrence of a gall-forming copepod in Actinostola spp. (Anthozoa)

Pages 107-110 | Received 26 Jan 1970, Published online: 21 Dec 2011

Abstract

In 1887 Hansen described a parasitic copepod, Gastroecus arcticus, taken from “a big Anthea” in the Kara Sea. This species may prove to be identical with the “Antheacheres-like” parasites, repeatedly mentioned by Carlgren as occurring in the sea anemones, Actinostola intermedia and A. spetsbergensis.
