Abstract
The anatomy, intraspecific variation, and taxonomy of a new heteronemertine, Cerebratulus praealbescens, are described. The species is characterized by, inter alia, a cephalic lacuna divided into three, and sometimes up to five, chambers, a proboscis with three muscle layers and, anterior to the mouth, well-developed intradermal circular muscle fibres. The material was collected from the Gullmar-fjord area on the west coast of Sweden and the Tromsö area, Norway.
