Pages 183-196 | Accepted 08 Sep 1986, Published online: 21 Dec 2011

Abstract

Eurycopidae were collected in the Norwegian and Greenland Seas during the NORBI expedition in July-August 1975 and in the Norwegian Sea during cruises with R.V. Håkon Mosby in March, June, and August 1981 and January and November 1982. Further material was collected in the North Polar Sea during an expedition with the icebreaker Ymer in July 1980. Ten species were found, belonging to the genera Eurycope. Tytthocope, Munneurycope, and Munnopsurus. One is a new species, E. dahli sp. nov., which is similar to E. producta SARS, but differs in shape of the rostrum, body size. shape of the maxillipeds, structure of male pleopods 1 and 2, and in shape of the operculum. E. dahli and E. hanseni OHLIN were found in the Norwegian, Greenland, and North Polar Seas. The following species were found in the Norwegian Sea and the North Polar Sea; E. brevirostris HANSEN, E. inermis HANSEN. E. producta SARS, Tytthocope megalura (SARS), and Munnopsurus giganteus (SARS). E. cryoabyssalis JUST was only found in the North Polar Sea, and E. cornuta SARS only in the Norwegian Sea. Munneurycope incisa was found in the Norwegian Sea and the Greenland Sea. A key is given to the species of the Eurycopidae of the Norwegian, Greenland and North Polar Seas.
