The Amount of free Hydroxyproline in Human Blood Serum

Pages 259-261 | Received 10 Oct 1961, Published online: 28 Aug 2009

Abstract

The amount of free hydroxyproline in serum from ten men in the postabsorbtive state was recorded using a bed of Zeocarb for the absorbtion of the amino acids with subsequent elution with ammonia and chromatographic fractionation on a Dowex 50 column. The hydroxyproline eluted was estimated according to Stegeman. The amount of free hydroxproline found in serum of this group of men varies from 0.07 to 0.12 mg per 100 ml.
