Capillary Filtration Rate on the Human Calf during Exposure to Carbon Monoxide and Hypoxia (3454 m)

Abstract

The effect on calf capillary filtration rate (CFR) of high altitude (3454 m) and of carbon monoxide (CO) was investigated during prolonged exposure (8 and 10 days respectively). The present work indicates that CO exposure and high altitude gives no changes in the calf CFR. It does not exclude CFR changes in other vascular areas, as well as small unmeasurable changes, that can not be observed with the plethysmographic technique.
