Abstract

Bjerve, K. S. An Automated Micromethod for the Determination of Serum Iron. Scand. J. clin. Lab. Invest. 36, 673–677, 1976.

A rapid, automated micromethod is reported for the determination of serum iron with the AutoAnalyzer I system. 95 µ1 of serum is required, and the analysis is run at a speed of 50 samples per hour. Copper does not interfere with the iron analysis. Total iron-binding capacity can be measured with this method. Reference values for the serum iron concentration in children 6 weeks to 6 years old are presented.
