Body Plethysmographic Studies in Non-Smoking, Healthy Adults

Abstract

Reference values for R_aw, SG_aw, FRC, VC, RV, TLC, RV/TLC and ERV were measured in a series of 268 non-smoking males and 244 non-smoking females, all 18 – 65 years old.The measurements were taken with a constant-volume body plethysmograph (Siregnost, Siemens), using an analog computer to correct differences in temperature and humidity.

Equations were derived using age, height and weight as predictors. The reproducibility was tested.
