Abstract

Ligation of the hepatic artery was performed because of metastatic tumors in the liver in two patients. One of the patients was postoperatively treated with Endoxan ®. In both patients an impairment of the tumor growth was seen, making the tumors in one of the patients available for radical surgery.

Postoperatively, a marked fall in the plasma levels of total cholesterol, total phospholipids and triglycerides was observed, similar to the changes in plasma lipids reported to occur after liver resections, but of shorter duration. The alterations of these plasma lipid fractions culminated during the first postoperative week and then a gradual normalization occurred.
