Abstract

Royer, M., Ortiz, H., Machado, E. & Noir, Beatriz. 1970. Bilirubin Absorption by the Gallbladder. Scand. J. Gastroent. 5, 17-23.

A technique for studying the absorption of bilirubin in the gallbladder is described. Using this technique, it was found that both conjugated and unconjugated bilirubin-C14 are absorbed by the gallbladder, transported into the general circulation, and eliminated in the bile and urine, indicating a cholecysto-hepatic circulation of bilirubin.
