Abstract

Urban, E. & Schedl, H. P. 1970. Effect of Vitamin D on Tissue Calcium of Rat Duodenum. Scand. J. Gastroent. 5, 33-37.

The effects of vitamin D on distribution during transport of 40Ca and 45Ca in duodenal tissue (T) and mucosal (M) and serosal (S) media were studied. Vitamin D increased S/M concentration ratios of both isotopes in parallel in duodenal sacs. Specific activities (SA) were higher in M than S or T, and independent of vitamin D. 40Ca, 45Ca, and SA of T and S were not affected. Vitamin D increased unidirectional Ca transport, but had no effect on exchange of medium 40Ca and 45Ca with T 40Ca.
