Abstract

Marcussen, H., Wulff, H. R., & Wulff, Marion R. 1970. Evaluation of Acid Secretion in Gastric Ulcer. A Combined Radiological and Secretory Study. Scand. J. Gastroent. 5, 65-75.

A clinical material of 79 gastric ulcer cases was analysed. In primary gastric ulcer the augmented histamine test revealed basal and peak outputs similar to those reported in normal materials. In secondary GU, i.e. GU associated with DU disease, the acid production was similar to that found in DU cases, when the age of the patients was considered. The average acid production was found to decrease with increasing distance between pylorus and crater. The decrease, however, was gradual and no distinction could be made between a prepyloric and a corpus type of gastric ulcer.
