Abstract

Rchfeld, J. F., Juhl, E. & Quaade, F. 1970. The Intestinal Insulinotropic Action after Jejuno-Ileostomy. Scand. J. Gastroent. 5, 77-80.

Three patients who had undergone intestinal by-pass operation (jejuno-iliac anastomosis) for obesity showed no elevation in blood sugar, but a significant rise in serum insulin after oral glucose ingestion. Our observations confirm that an intestinal β-cell stimulation exists, and that it is mainly located in the duodenum and the first part of the jejunum.
