Abstract

Aune, S. 1970. Transperitoncal Exchange. II. Peritoneal Blood Flow Estimated by Hydrogen Gas Clearance. Scand. J. Gastroent. 5, 99-104.

The peritoneal blood flow was estimated in rabbits by means of peritoneal hydrogen gas clearance. The validity of the clearance as a measure of flow is discussed. It is concluded that the blood flow is at least large enough not to influence the transperitoneal transport of solutes normally present in the blood. The main restriction to such transport is therefore the permeability of the peritoneal membrane.
