Abstract

Christoffersen, P., Poulsen, H. & Winkler, K. 1970. Clinical Findings in Patients with Hepatitis and Abnormal Bile Duct Epithelium. Scand. J. Gastroent. 5, 117-121.

In 80 liver biopsies from 74 patients with histological changes typical for viral hepatitis 14 (from 14 patients) exhibited abnormal duct epithelium. A correlation of the biochemical and clinical findings in these 14 and the others was performed. The incidence of chronic hepatitis clinically and/or histologically is more frequent in the group with abnormal bile duct epithelium, whereas the incidence of chronic liver disease (chronic hepatitis or cirrhosis) after a follow-up of 1 month to 3 years does not differ. Development of primary biliary cirrhosis has in no case been observed.
