The profile scan patterns in the week following a test dose of Cobalt-58 cyanocobalamin arc described in 24 subjects with normal and abnormal absorption of this substance. In nearly all cases a profile scan on the seventh day would have detected the presence of unabsorbed radioactivity in the bowel. This technique may be a useful adjunct in measuring vitamin B₁₂ absorption by whole body counting.
