Abstract
Borg, I. & Emås, S. 1970. Effect of Atropine on the Gastric Acid Response to Histamine and Pentagastrin in Conscious Cats. Scand. J. Gastroent. 5, 369-374.
In conscious cats with gastric fistulas, intravenous atropine sulphate (0.1 mg per kg) did not significantly alter the acid response to a large dose of histamine dihydrochloridc (320 μg per kg and hour) but significantly reduced the response to a small dose (40 μg per kg and hour) by 41 per cent. Atropine significantly reduced the response to a large dose (32 μg per kg and hour) and to a small dose (4 μg per kg and hour) of pentagastrin by 57 and 41 per cent, respectively.
