Abstract

Petersen, H. & Berstad, A. 1970. Effect of Secretin on Histamine- and Pentagastrin-Stimulated Secretion of Acid in Man. Scand. J. Gastroent. 5, 529-532.

The gastric secrction of acid in response to the combination of one clinical unit/kg of pure natural secretin injected intravenously, and 50 μg/kg of histamine dihydrochloride or 6 μg/kg of pentagastrin injected subcutaneously, was compared to the gastric acid response to histamine and pentagastrin alone. The addition of secretin caused a significant depression of the one-hour acid response both to pentagastrin (18 per cent) and histamine (24 per cent). The volumes were not significantly changed.
