Abstract

Bergström, K. & Lundh, G. 1970. Determination of Trypsin in Duodenal Fluid as a Test of Pancreatic Function. A Methodological Note. Scand. J. Gastroent. 5, 533-536.

The pancreatic function test using a test meal as stimulus was simplified and improved. When water was substituted for the test meal in 27 patients, the mean concentration of trypsin in duodenal fluid was slightly lower. A better evaluation of pH and the composition of the duodenal fluid could thus be obtained. The assay technique for trypsin was also improved and made simpler by following the degradation of N-benzoyl-arginine-p-nitroanilide (BAPA) with a kinetic method.
