Abstract

Borgström, B. 1970. Effect of lon-exchange Substances on the Lipolysis Catalysed by Pancreatic Lipase. Scand. J. Gastroent. 5, 549-553.

Bile salt sequestrants in the form of cholestyramine and DEAE-Sephadex under the conditions prevailing in the intestinal lumen, decrease the concentration of bile salt below their critical micellar concentration. In addition DEAE-Sephadex changes the composition of the glyceride mixture formed by the action of pancreatic lipase on long chain triglycerides most probably by sequestration of the fatty acids formed.
