Abstract

Johansson, H., Krause, U. & Olding, L. 1970. Pancreatic Metastases from a Malignant Melanoma. Scand. J. Gastroent. 5, 573-575.

A case of malignant intraocular melanoma metastasizing to the pancreas is presented. The metastases became manifest 12 years after the removal of a primary tumour in the right eye. The metastatic involvement of the pancreas could be accepted as isolated, and the patient was treated by pancreaticoduodenectomy. Even if the treatment must be considered a palliative one, in selected patients with malignant melanoma the treatment of choice is local ‘radical’ surgery.
