Abstract

Christiansen, J. & Aagaard, P. 1970. Dose-Response Studies of Gastric Secretion of Sodium, Potassium, Calcium, Inorganic Phosphorus, and Magnesium after Stimulation with Pentagastrin. Scand. J. Gastroent. 5, 609-612.

The electrolytes were measured during continuous intravenous pentagastrin infusion in 5 patients with duodenal ulcer. The pentagastrin doses used were 0.005, 0.01, 0.1, + 0.2 μg/kg/min. Earlier findings concerning dose-response of acid and volume after stimulation with pentagastrin were confirmed. Calcium secretion was found maximal at a dose of 0.01 μg/kg/min. while potassium, phosphorus, and magnesium secretion was maximal at the lowest test dose, 0.005 μg/kg/min.
