Abstract

Konturek, S. J., Radecki, T., Biernat, J. & Thor, P. 1970. Effect of Caerulein on Pentagastrin-induced Gastric Acid Secretion and Peptic Ulcers in Cats. Scand. I. Gastroent. 5, 613-616.

Caerulein alone produced a maximal gastric acid response equal to that provoked by pentagastrin in gastric fistula cats. Caerulein infused against background stimulation with pentagastrin caused a sharp decline in acid output and almost complete prevention of peptic ulcers mainly due to the increase in duodenal neutralization.
