Abstract

Lurie, B., Brom, B., Bank, S., Novis B. & Marks, I. N. 1973. Comparative Response of Exocrine Pancreatic Secretion Following a Test Meal and Secretion-Pancreozymin Stimulation. Scand. J. Gastroent. 8, 27-32.

The methods and results of a test meal in 16 normal controls and 34 pancreatic patients are presented. This study confirms the findings of other investigators regarding the value of the test meal in the diagnosis of pancreatic disease. A comparison between the test meal and the secretin-pancreozymin test in 6 control subjects and 20 pancreatic patients shows a good correlation between the two tests. The mean amylase concentrations in the two tests show a better correlation than those of trypsin. The test meal may be shortened to one 30-minute collection and is simple, safe, and convenient.
