Abstract

Gudmand-Höyer, E. & Söeberg, B. 1973. Jejunal Brush-Border Disaccharidase and Alkaline Phosphatase Activity in Acute Viral Hepatitis. Scand. J. Gastroent. 8, 377-380.

Jejunal biopsies from 11 patients with acute viral hepatitis were examined for brush-border disaccharidase activity and alkaline phosphatase activity. When compared with a control material, the enzyme activity was found to be diffusely reduced in the patients with hepatitis. Acute viral hepatitis may thus be added to the list of diseases which from without the small intestine may affect the enzymatic function of the latter.
