Abstract

Aagaard, P., Deckert, T. & Fenger, H. J. Serum insulin after intravenous administration of glucose before and after total vagotomy. Scand. J. Gastroent. 1973, 8, 699-701.

In 11 non-diabetic, non-obese patients glucose tolerance tests and serum insulin determination were carried out before and after total vagotomy. The glucose assimilation coefficient was unchanged, while the mean glucose-induced insulin response was lower after vagotomy. Statistical analysis of paired samples did not reveal significant differences in glucose-induced insulin responses before and after vagotomy.
