Intracellular Distribution of Co-Lipase and Folate Conjugase in the Rat Pancreas

The intracellular distribution of co-lipase and pteroylpolyglutamate hydrolase (folate conjugase) has been studied, using isopycnic gradient centrifugation of rat pancreatic homogenates. By comparison with lipase almost the same proportions of co-lipase but smaller proportions of folate conjugase were recovered from the zymogen granule fractions. The specific activities (activity per mg protein) for lipase and co-lipase were high in the zymogen granules, but for folate conjugase the specific activity was high in the zymogen granules as well as in the cell sap.
