Abstract
Vatn, M. H., Berstad. A. & Myren, J. The effect of exogenous secretin and cholecystokinin (CCK) on pentagastrin-stimulated intrinsic factor (IF) secretion in man. Scand. J. Gastroent. 1974, 9, 313-317.
The secretion of IF was examined in 6 healthy subjects during intravenous infusion of pentagastrin (1 μg/kg/h) alone, and in combination with secretin (2 units/kg/h) and 20% CCK. (2 units/kg/h). CCK caused a reduction of IF, acid, and pepsin output. The reduction of pepsin was not statistically significant. Secretion caused a significant reduction of acid and augmentation of pepsin output, whereas the output of IF was unchanged. The findings suggest that secretin has a different effect on the 3 components of gastric juice. IF, acid, and pepsin.
