Abstract

Petersen, P., Christoffersen, P., Elling, P., Juhl, E., Dietrichson, O., Faber, V., Iversen, K., Nielsen, J. O. & Poulsen, H. Acute viral hepatitis: A survey of 500 patients. Clinical, biochemical, immunological, and morphological features at time of diagnosis. Scand. J. Gastroent. 1974, 9, 607–613.

During a 3-year period 500 patients with biopsy-verified acute viral hepatitis from Copenhagen were included in a prospective study. A number of clinical, biochemical, immunological, and further histological variables were registered at time of biopsy. Since the material is unselected and consists of one-fourth of all patients reported to the Ministry of Health during the same period from the same area, the results may represent a real profile of acute viral hepatitis in Copenhagen. As a basis for further studies, the variables from the initial phase of the disease are presented.
