A method is described for the detection and monitoring of bleeding in the upper gastrointestinal tract. A short-lived radionuclide (ⁿ³In^m) is used. Acute bleeding in the upper gastrointestinal tract in patients without signs of shock and preshock usually stopped within a short time after onset.
