Total Replacement of the Ascending Aorta and Aortic Valve with Implantation of the Coronary Ostia in Marfan's Syndrome

A Preliminary Report of Four Cases

Abstract

Replacement of the entire ascending aorta and aortic valve, including coronary implantation, was carried out in 4 patients with ascending aortic aneurysm and aortic regurgitation. Details of the surgical technique are given. There was no operative mortality, but one patient died three months postoperatively due to paravalvular leak and pseudoaneurysm with multiple emboli. The remaining three patients are alive and well 14, 5 and 4 months postoperatively.
