Predators or Prey? A Special Marine Education Issue

What Is the Impact of Beach Debris?

Pages 27-31 | Published online: 03 Apr 2010

Abstract

Solid waste on beaches not only creates unsightly recreation areas but also has more far reaching environmental impacts. In this marine education activity, students construct a web of changes that show the potential problems caused by such debris. Then they determine whether each change is an increase or a decrease from previous conditions.
