Abstract

Managed care comes in all shapes and sizes. Providers must assess the type of managed care organizations (MCO) they will work with and the subsequent impact on service delivery. This article depicts one behavioral health care company's philosophy of treatment and an example of reduction of mental health care costs, but an increase in utilization. Providers are advised to restructure their practices to actually see more, not fewer patients.
