Abstract
This paper discusses the intersubjective use of ethnicity in a case. The author reviews the role of ethnicity in the psychoanalytic tradition and explores the creative potential of intersub‐jectivity. Applying Ogden's concept of the analytic third based on Winnicott's ideas, the author elaborates on the psychodynamic potential space co‐created by the similarities and differences of ethnic identities.
