Peter Hall’s Contributions to Public Policy Research: Examples from Educational Reform Research1

Notes

1 It’s all his fault. Peter Hall was my first graduate advisor at UC Santa Barbara. He pointed me toward Walter Buckley, Aaron Cicourel, Tamotsu Shibutani, Tom Scheff, Don Zimmerman, and his own emerging work inflecting public policy research with a symbolic interactionist perspective. Since then, we participated in projects, conferences, and engaging conversations together—often enhanced by a delicious meal—and always with a fine bottle of Zinfandel. I am proud to say I was his friend.
