SYNOPSIS

THE rapid destruction of forests to provide firewood, and the use of dung and crop residues for fuel is causing world-wide concern. While attention is frequently focused on the silvicultural problems in providing alternative sources of fuel, the equally important administrative and sociological aspects are neglected.
