SYNOPSIS
The present paper is a continuation of the series dealing with the regeneration of Pinus radiata in the southern Cape Province. The study deals with post planting mortality and growth in response to the experimental treatments and planting site environment. The study was motivated by the necessity of accurate predictions of mortality, which forms an essential part of any growth prediction model. The paper examines the impact of violations of the assumptions of the parametric analysis of variance and applies logistic regression models to detect and evaluate the impact of influential variables. The Gompertz function was applied to model the age-mortality relationship.
