Notes
1 As such, and with “footnoted” text traversing the page in various directions, the extracts presented in this article do not reproduce the novella visually. Rather, they are laid out in such a way as to allow ease of reading here.
2 My use of Y within quotations from Kapow! is a close visual rendering of the actual symbol used to indicate the bifurcated footnotes in Kapow! These essentially occur in Kapow! as a footnote marker in place of the numerical footnote system that one might be more accustomed to seeing in academic writing.
3 From the poem “And You Think You Could?” by Vladimir Mayakovsky.
