Abstract
A new reagent system, MgBr2-Ac2O-NaOAc, was investigated for the selective rearrangement reaction of bicyclic ketal compounds. Mono- and diacetylated products were isolated in low yield using MgBr2-Ac2O system, but the single mono-acetylated isomer was obtained selectively by the addition of NaOAc in the reaction conditions.
