Mild and Efficient Procedure for the Synthesis of 1,5‐Benzodiazepines Catalyzed by Magnesium Perchlorate

Abstract

A convenient and efficient method for the synthesis of 1,5‐benzodiazepines by the reaction of o‐phenylenediamines (OPDA) and ketones with hydrogens at the α‐position has been developed. The reaction is carried out at room in the presence of a catalytic amount of magnesium perchlorate under solvent‐free conditions.
