Abstract
Hydroxytyrosol is a naturally occurred orthodiphenolic component of olive oil. A variety of biological functions for this molecule have been reported. We report herein an efficient and practical method for the chemical synthesis of hydroxytyrosol from 2,3-dihydroxybenzaldehyde.
