Abstract

Nanoscience and nanotechnology can aid to design catalysts with excellent efficiency, selectivity and stability. Magnetic nanoparticles have emerged recently as an alternative for the easy separation of nanosized catalysts from reaction mixtures by employing an external magnetic field. During the last decade, a library of magnetically reusable zinc nanocatalysts was fabricated and their catalytic applications were investigated in many chemical transformations such as multicomponent and oxidation reactions. In this review, attention is focused on the fabrication and characterization of magnetically reusable zinc nanocatalysts and their catalytic activities in organic synthesis.
