Abstract

The addition reaction of organic polyhalides such as CCL4, trichloroacetate to acrylica monomers catalyzed by various catalysts proceeds in two ways. The first one is selective formation of 1:1 adduct and this reaction is catalyzed by copper or iron salts.2,3) when free radical generators such as benzoyl peroxide and metal carbonyls 4) are use as the catalyst, polymerization takes place. Termination step is predominant with the former catalysts and propagation step is predominant with the former catalysts and propagation step predominates over termination step with the latter catalysts.
