Titanium (III) Reduction of Sulfoxides

Abstract

Titanium (III) chloride is a mild and effective reagent for the generation of carbonyl compounds from oximes1 and nitroalkanes2. Imines have been posutlated as the intermediates which undergo in situ hydrolysis to afford the final products.
