Abstract
Cyanogen bromide is a classical pseudohalogen introduced and popularized by von Braun1 as an invaluable tool of alkaloid degradation. Further investigations by the same author extended the use of BrCN in thioether cleavage,2 which subsequently formed the basis of specific hydrolysis of methioniae peptides.3
